Battle for top spot!

After the hearts of the Milanisti were trampled upon by Juventus on the weekend, the rossoneri will be looking to make it up to their fans as they take on Wolfsburg this evening in the last UEFA Cup group match.

A win is vital for the diavoli as they currently lie second in the group: two points behind Wolfsburg. The team to finish second will face the third placed teams that were in the Champions League therefore, first place is a must in hope to avoid facing the stronger teams.

The Via Turati have a lot of to do as they take on a strong German side with an Italian inspired defence as both Andrea Barzagli and Cristian Zaccardo moved to the Bundesliga outfit in the summer. The Italians know how to close down their opponents and will surely cause trouble for an already struggling squad who will have to do without Flamini, Kaka and Gattuso, who is out until the rest of the season.

Its back to the drawing board for the Diavoli and co. and inspiration needs to strike as an injury crisis cannot be solely to blame for the bad performances. Dreams of the scudetto maybe few and far between, however, the UEFA Cup is not.

Job done on the European front. Maybe Fiorentina will lie in wait!

Job done but improvements still need to be made. Second place in the UEFA Cup is not impressive for a team like Milan and hopefully this next round will be the wake up call they need.

Aalborg would be the one which most Milanisti will be hoping for but I hope a tough test like Bordeaux or Weder can stir them up, as they can't face Fiorentina next. Hopefully Fiorentina will get an easy task
