'Dinho and Pippo break Pompey's hearts!!

It was Portsmouth's first campaign in European football and they faced a Milan team that has won the most international trophies in the world. Surely it was to be win for the rossoneri? But once again Carlo Ancelotti and his players made life difficult for themselves.

After a series of attempts the up-right was hit, Pippo's ball landed on top of the net instead of in it. None of the moves strung by both teams made an impact on the result as both teams went into the break goalless.

However in the 68th minute Kaboul found the back of the net from a Johnson cross to send the Pompey's into a state of pandemonium. The fans were already in full force and they started to cheer their team on some more.

Milan's defence was later caught sleeping as Kanu slotted the ball past Dida. Everyone believing that the result was out of reach for the once might Milan that were looking tired and fresh out of ideas.

Nevertheless, if there has been one shining star for Milan this season it has been Ronaldinho. He hasn't been consistently good with his performances on the field but his goals have proved vital for the rossoneri. Johnson brought down Dinho who swept home an free-kick to give the rossoneri a bit of life.

The Brazilian's goal seemed to have spurred life in a the struggling Milan side. The rossoneri piled on the pressure and would once again find a late goal with none other than Pippo Inzaghi.

Super Pippo was given the Captain's armband when Gattuso was substituted off and he didn't fail to live up to the expectations of a captain. Always edging his team arm and never giving up faith Inzaghi found the back of the net in the last minute of injury time to send Milan into the next round of the UEFA Cup.

It was a heart breaking end to the game for the Pompey who did deserve something more but Milan have done it before in the last few minutes and they will no doubt do it again, though improvement needs to be done!
