Lets Give Leo A Final Moment of Respect

Once again we find ourselves asking; 'Who Should be Milan's next coach?' It is sad to be asking and debating this topic before the season is even up, provided there is only one game left, however; instead of pushing Leonardo out the door with all these rumours, fans should be thanking him and making his last day as coach memorable.

It is inevitable that the young Brazilian will be leaving his post come next week Sunday, but I feel a decent send off should be done to thank Leo for what he has given the team. Yes, no trophies were won but it was his first season as a coach and I believe- given he was thrown unwillingly into the coaching department- that he has held his own quite well.

Finishing a respectable third place and ensuring Champions League qualification for next season is not bad considering Milan are now in the 'development' stages. New unknown names were brought in, trust was thrust upon the likes of Antonini and Abate who proved ever so versatile and an asset to the side.

Thiago Silva, relatively unknown to the world outside of Brazil, grew strong and strong with each match and it would certainly be an injustice should he not be in South Africa next month. While the best was brought out of Ronalidnho; not even Ancelotti managed that feat. And finally Borriello showed his worth and is now a strong candidate to represent the World Cup winners next month.

This all points to the fact that, although Leonardo never brought home silverware, he managed to bring out some young prospects and achieved a very respectable overall showing for the season. So lets not rush him out the door so quickly.

Let us show him respect on the last day of the season. Give him a standing ovation and show him some appreciation that he will always remain part of the Milan family and in the hearts of the Milanisti. Grazie Leo!

With this, I will not write a post about possible coaches that can represent Milan next season. I will wait until the final game of the season, and show Leonardo the respect he deserves. In the meantime a poll is up on "Who Should Be The New Milan Coach." Feel free to punch in your votes.

Finally some food for thought; there are only four names up on the poll. I am not 100% convinced about the names because I believe that there are other possible candidates out there. So I encourage you to think of other names that could possibly be available come June: Luciano Spalletti, Cesare Prandelli, Francesco Guidolin and whatever happened to Frank Rijkaard? Happy voting....
