Siena, Ci Vediamo!

It is a sad day for Tuscan football as it waved good-bye to its second side to be relegated this season after Livorno saw themselves relegated last weekend. Following their 2-1 loss to Palermo this afternoon the bianconeri could only muster up 30 points with just two games remaining in the season, therefore; leaving it impossible for them to make up the points need for safety.

It has undoubtedly been their worst season in years and it pains me to say goodbye to them. The Tuscan minnows always managed to provide Italy with surprising results, fantastic goals, and small town spirit that most teams failed to provide.

Living their for six weeks saw the city, the people, and the football work their way into my heart and should anyone go there they would understand how this medieval side works their way into people's lives.

The footballers walk the streets with no airs or graces, they are no bombarded by fans and carry on life as if they were an ordinary citizen with no special popularity status. They really are the most down- to- earth, friendly, and dedicated bunch of players who work their heart out on the field; making it only more difficult having to face a Serie A with no Siena in it.

Lets hope their plight in Serie B won't be for too long a period and that they will bounce straight up at the end of next season. Afterall, Serie A will not be the same without the bianconeri around as they have made a name for themselves and have gained the respect of many in recent years.

Until then Siena, we don't say goodbye but rather 'Ci Vediamo' because we are bound to be seeing you back at the top soon.
