The Forwards:

The final area of the football field: the forwards. Considered the most vital in winning a game it is up to them to score the goals that will ensure victory for their team.

In the last World Cup each of the Azzurri's forwards all scored at least one goal, which ultimately saw 10 different players score goals for the World Cup winning side. It will be a tough decision for Lippi to make this year as there have been a lot of rising stars that have been pushing for a slot.

With no Totti, Inzaghi or Toni new faces will be brought into the set-up and it remains to be seen who will make the final cut.

THE FORWARDS:
Marco Borriello
Another strong contender for that final position in this category, the Milan player certainly went out with a point to prove to Lippi which saw him net some fantastic goals (even winning goal of the year) as well as scoring some crucial goals for the rossoneri. It will be in the friendly games that will ultimately make or break Borriello's World Cup dreams.
Antonio Di Natale
Not the most consistent of performers but was Serie A's top goal scorer this season, this alone guarantees a spot in the Azzurri outfit should injury not pop up.

Alberto Gilardino
'Il Gila' took part in the last World Cup, scoring one goal against the United States of America. With a much higher level of confidence- following an impressive season at Fiorentina- the Viola man is out to make more of an impact in this World Cup. Given a good ball this classic poacher is guaranteed to net it in. The Azzurri need a strong, dynamic, poacher in the squad; Gila can certainly deliver the goods.

Vincenzo Iaquinta
With just six goals to his name this season, Iaquinta will be working hard to try and find a way to impress Lippi. Good in the air and playing off the last man Iaquinta has proven to deliver at last grasp situations. Despite partaking in the last World Cup a spot in not guaranteed for the Bianconero.

Giampaolo Pazzini
His most impressive season to date; Pazzini's departure from Fiorentina to Sampdoria saw him make the best move of his career. After thriving under Gigi Del Neri's reign 'il Pazzo' helped the 'Doriani secure fourth spot and the final spot in the Champions League on the last day of the Serie A campaign. With 19 goals to his name this year the 26-year old certainly deserves to by flying to South Africa.

Guiseppe Rossi
This youngster managed to make the trip to South Africa last year and deservedly so. He was the only positive to come out of the Confederations Cup tournament last year. The Villareal player has the ability to adapt to many formations and styles of play that proved inevitably vital last year. He also has an outstanding ability to create the most amazing goals out of nothing. Despite a not-so-great season Rossi deserves to be in the squad and could prove to be the foot behind the goals for the Azzurri.

Fabio Quagliarella
The Udinese front-man has scored 11 goals this season for the Bianconeri, and it is with his partnership up-front with Di Natale that has seen them tally a total of 40 goals between the two of them. Despite, having a modest season, Quagliarella has proven to be reliable when needed and can certainly produce goals from no where as he is best known for his goals from acute and unconventional angles. With 18 appearances and three goals for the Azzurri, Fabio has started to develop himself as a permanent figure in the squad, though it remains to be seen if he will be chosen.
