Bye Bye Gila!!

Alberto Gilardino's time at the San Siro has come to an end as he bids the Milanisti a farewell and moves onto pastures new, in the shape of Fiorentina, after just three years at the club.

It has been a tough few years for the Biella-born player but his loyalty and faith have always shone through in times of need. It was Gilardino that helped turned Milan's season around in 2007 but it was Ronaldo that got given the credit, despite all the critics he managed to remain true to the rossoneri shirt and was a true gentleman on and off the field.

His numerous decisive goals throughout his three years at Milan have brought him some joy but unfortunately it hasn't been easy for Gila. His falling behind Pippo Inzaghi and Alexandre Pato in the line-up saw him benched for the good part of the end of the season.

It is a painful goodbye for both Milanisti and Gilardino to see him part but his transfer to Fiorentina is just what the ex-Parma player might need. He will be reunited with Cesare Prandelli- the tactician coached Gilardino when at Parma- and his ex-teammate Adrian Mutu.

The two will provide a formidable attack force for the Viola fans and as Champions League is in the books for Fiorentina their experience will be much needed when they come up against the big guns in Europe.

A new era is around the corner for la Viola and Gilardino is certain to play a big role in it! His passionate persona will never be forgotten by the diavoli and he sure will not forget Milan too. Sempre nel nostro cuore, in bocca al lupo al Gila!!
