Respect to Udinese
In the Champions League: no Italian teams remain. In the UEFA Cup: one remains, and they go by the name of Udinese. The team from the Friuli region is the only team to out last the best of Serie A as they went on to reach the round of the last 16.
On there travels to the round of the last 16 they managed to muster up some hard fought wins by easing through a group with potential favourites Dinamo Zagreb, Tottenham and Spartak Moscow. They even sent home Lech Poznan of Poland with a 4-3 aggregate win in the round of 32.
Thursday evening they took part in the first round of the last 16 against Zenit St Patersburg. It was a tough battle which saw the Zebrette leave it until to net two goals in the dying minutes, so send shock waves down the defending champions spines.
Pasquale Marino has managed to string a cohesive side together that know how to reach their goals. They are the only team left to continue the name for Italy and this is the time when the whole nation needs to back the bianconeri in order for European survival.
Much respect is deserved of this team, and they have certainly gained it through their impressive performances on the field. Best of luck to the Zebrette and hopefully they will be bringing home some silver wear.
