The fans summon Frank Rijkaard

With Carlo Ancelotti's future constantly put under speculation, Milan's Curva Sud decided to host a poll in which fans could vote to see who they would prefer to see on the bench next season should Ancelotti depart from his beloved Milan.

There is no doubt to it; despite the recent slump, the poor tactics, the poor play and the unimpressive substitution decisions Ancelotti has served the rossoneri well over the years. He is the longest serving coach for the Diavoli alongside Nereo Rocco.

He has acquired an impressive hall of trophies for the team over the past seven years. While making do with players he didn't necessarily need or want. However, the past remains the past and it's the present and the future that is the concern.

It is undoubtedly evident that the Rossoneri need to undergo a major clean out in the summer, though even new arrivals won't necessarily change Milan's ways. This is why it is believed that Ancelotti needs to call it a day at Milanello.

With the poll tally in, it seems that the fans are eager to see the return of Frank Rijkaard to the San Siro. The Dutchman is a Milan legend and is currently a free agent following his departure from the Camp Nou Last summer.

He is no doubt one of the fans favourite when it comes to past players and he would certainly make the fans happy in his promise to make his teams play attacking, entertaining football. Another fans favourite- who has seen a lot of speculation about him in recent weeks- is Marco Van Basten.

The Ajax coach came second in the poll, with his popularity increasing as the rumours of his return to Milanello grew. The former Holland National coach would be a good move for the rossoneri as his style to incorporate the young talent could benefit Milan as their aging team is in desperate need for an overhaul.

It is still unknown whether or not this weekend will see Ancelotti's last game on the bench at the San Siro. Though there is no doubt that the fans are greatful for what Ancelotti has put into this team in the past years.
