Milan Sign Onyewu

Milan have made their first real signing of the summer coming in the shape of the American international Oguchi Onyewu from Standard Leige.

Onyewu was born in 1982 in Washington where he played for Clemson University before moving to Belgium. He has played in England, France but it is in Belgium where has has made his name. He has won two league titles with Standard Leige where he made 117 appearances for the club scoring six.

The centre-back was also a main protagonist in America's fine display in the Confederations Cup in South Africa. He won the man-of-the-match award in his teams heroic display against Spain in the semi-finals which saw them loose to Brazil in the final after having a 2-0 lead at half time.

Onyewu had also been rumoured to other clubs in Italy but Milan managed to snap up the in demand defender for free. This transfer comes soon after the Ultras protested against Galliani's lack of transfer activity in their first training session.
