Two Losses Leave Many Hearts Broken

It was a sad week for the Italian sides in the Champions League as both teams, Milan and Fiorentina, failed to get a win in the first leg of the round of the last sixteen. However; all hope is not lost as chances still remain for the sides as they anxiously wait for the second leg.

Fiorentina who were dealt a cruel defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich will play their second leg at home. They can remain confident as they have an away goal to their name while they can take comfort in the fact that only an offside goal separates the two sides; as Bayern Munich triumphed 2-1 at the Alianz Arena.

Undoubtedly with a home turf advantage Prandelli will be looking to gain revenge from Wednesday night's match and will be pushing his boys to do their best. They will however be without Gobbi, who recieved a harsh red card in the match.

The story however, is not so simple for Milan who have to win by two goals or more to stand a chance of proceeding to the quarter finals. A shocking home 3-2 defeat to Manchester United saw the rossoneri left in a permanent state of shock after they took the lead three minutes into the game.

Though a series of missed chances and some poor substitutions- due to injury- saw Leonardo's men buckle under pressure and the role of fortune reversed. It's undoubtedly a tough situation but the rossoneri have pulled results out of no where and hopefully Old Trafford will provide them with that.

Until three weeks time...
