Oddo goes under the knife

Massimo Oddo will undergo surgery today in Rome, where his knee will be operated on following a problem with his miniscus. The ex-Lazio player picked up a knock in Milan's weekend game, against Atalanta on Sunday, where he got substitited off in the early stages of the second half.

More tests were conducted during the week where it was discovered that the right back needed instant surgery that will lay him off the rest of the season, and he could potentially miss out of the Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.

This injury comes as a huge blow to the rossoneri, who are already struggling with form, and this only adds to their injuries woes. With Marcos Cafu injured Carlo Ancelotti does not have any naural right-back available to him but it is expected that Daniele Bonera could step in as he is slowly over coming his foot injury.

But if that isn't worrying enough; Alessandro Nesta has recieved a two-match ban, which will leave him out of the tie to Juventus, and it is expected that Paolo Maldini could step in for the World Cup winner. But with Maldini in the centre of defence alongside Kaladze the left-back position will also be left open with Marek Jankulovski and Serginho both struggling to shake off injuries. It will be up to a not-so-fully fit Guiseppe Favalli to take to the flank.

Suggestions have been made that Christian Brocchi could drop back into a right-back role but with Andrea Pirlo, Emerson and Kaka both struggling for fitness another challenge will present itself to Ancelotti.

Filippo Inzaghi is finally showing signs of improvement but it is unknown when he will return to the aid of the rossoneri.

Testing times lie ahead for the World Champions and it is now when the true Milan need to show themselves.
