An exciting end to the season install!

The 2008 Serie A campaign will certainly see its most exciting end in recent years; with the scudetto still up for grabs, several teams still battling it out for Serie A security and the intense battle for Europe, with Fiorentina, Milan and Sampdoria all fighting for the Champions league, it will no doubt be an intense end. And if that wasn't enough there are still cup competitions such as the Coppa Italia with both semi-finals wide open and the UEFA Cup- which sees Fiorentina as the last remaining Italian team in Europe- take on Rangers in the semi-final.

First up is the battle for the Scudetto where Roma still have a chance of grabbing the title from Inter provided things go their way. Roma are currently 6 points adrift of Inter and they will need to win every game to stand a chance of wining their fourth Italian title. The title can be claimed this coming weekend should Roma fail to beat Torino and Inter beat low lying Cagliari at the San Siro

The other end of the table shows a different story as there are numerous teams that could potentially see themselves in Serie B next season. Reggina, Empoli and Livorno are all sitting at the bottom of the log tied together with 30 points each; while, Parma and Torino lie above them with 31 and 34 points respectively. The relegation battle will certainly go down to the wire with only four games left to play.

The four Champions League spots are almost all full for next season's campaign; yet, there are still several teams in contention for the fourth and final spot. Milan and Sampdoria are Fiorentina's main rivals as they trail by four points while Udinese is also applying some pressure as they are one point behind the rossoneri and the bianconeri.

Fourth spot is absolutely vital for Silvio Berlusconi's team but Fiorentina and Sampdoria certainly don't look like they will be easing the pressure.
Cesare Prandelli's Fiorentina still have a lot to play for as they look to qualify for Europe while trying to conquer the UEFA Cup too. La Viola are the only remaining Italian team in an International Competition and they will look to continue flying the flag for Italian football as they take on Rangers later this week.

The Coppa Italia is also drawing to the close as it has reached the semi-final stage and both ties are wide open with a possibility of seeing Roma take on Inter for the fourth consecutive final. Neutrals will, however, be looking for a more exciting tie.
