Five star Milan back to second!

Call them what you want, pensioners, oldies, a team of retired players the Milanisti have heard it all but they the ones smiling tonight after they annihilated Torino 5-1 at the San Siro. Not only was the win sweet, but it became even better as the rossoneri have reclaimed second spot.

They currently lie with the same amount of points as Juventus but the Diavoli have a preferred goal difference leaving them in second place. Though it will be no easy task to hold that position as the rossoneri still need to play the likes of Juventus, Udinese, Roma and Fiorentina.

It was a fine display by the Via Turati outfit who had to make a few positional changes due to a Favalli injury. Zambrotta started on the left in place of the veteran and Carlo Ancelotti opted to try Flamini in the right back position. Ambrosini, Pirlo and Beckham controlled the midfield while Pato and Inzaghi lead the attack with Kaka tucked neatly behind them. While Torino also had over hand full of players missing.

It was a steady display by the rossoneri which saw Pippo and Beckham combining nicely together. Pippo had a goal rightly ruled out for offside from a Beckham free-kick. Though minutes later Pippo headed another one home from a Beckham corner.

While Dida raised some concerns over a shot by Blerim Dzemaili, but Milan continued to push as Inzaghi grabbed a brace from another Beckham assist, as he latched on to the Englishman's cross.

After several Toro tries in the second half Pippo had to wait until the hour mark to convert his second hatric of the season and his second against Torino. The last one came in a 6-0 drubbing of Torino in 2002.

Ambrosini was brought down in the box by Matteo Sereni and referee Banti pointed to the spot to add to the struggling side's woes. Kaka stepped up to convert it, and did so with a shot in the bottom left corner.

A consolation goal was all Torino received as Ivan Francheschini redirected Simone Barone's shot into the back of the net. While Kaka crossed the ball to Ambrosini who slashed in a angled drive to send Milan into second.

It is a sad day for the Toro fans who so desperately need to secure a spot in Serie A next year but a fine one fore the Milanisti. After a game like this the names that have been dubbed on them are nothing compared to the victory.
