UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour

Today the V & A Waterfront, in Cape Town, hosted the final leg of the UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour. The Trophy has been making it's way around the world, where adoring fans could take a picture with the trophy and look at the various memorabilia on display.

South Africa had the privilege to be the last country to host the event as it will be the country to host the next FIFA World Cup. It was a great festival of football as fans cued to see the famous trophy as well as having battles on numerous Foosball tables laid out around the amphitheatre.

Under a marque lay the collectors items... from Vitor Biai's gloves to Totti's armband and boot. From a Ronaldinho signed shirt to a Ronaldo shirt. Match balls of the last three Champions League finals were on display, with the signatures of the winning team. Vintage Juventus, Panathanaikos and many other shirts were on display as well as Champions League final tickets dating back to 1971 to last years final in Moscow.

There were also boards on display that hosted the records like Europe's leading goalscorers, highest number of appearances, the best five finals to date etc etc. It was a whirl wind of football frenzy and one could see that football fever had started to hit home for the Capetonians.

Here are some pictures taken at the event:
