Brazilian boys join Milan

It is a double dose of Samba magic for the rossoneri as they have completed two Brazilian signings in the shape of Tiago Silva of Tombense and Felipe Mattioni of Gremio. The duo are the latest hot property of Brazil to go on the market, where they have been pursued by many clubs all over Europe, however, they have decided to join a Milan side that is famous for its Brazilians.

Tiago Silva has already started training with his new teammates and will be able to feature for the Italian side in a friendly next month. The 24-year-old centre-back was a runner-up with Fluminese in last year's Coppa Libertadores but he will be looking to win titles with the rossoneri.

It is rumoured that he has been given the impossible task of Maldini's replacement, should the club legend retire at the end of the season, though Silva is feeling confident that he can reach Paolino's level one day.

Pato will certainly welcome the young blood in the shape of Mattioni as this 21-year-old will be looking to work some magic with the hero against Roma, by providing him some decent crosses. The rossoneri have been lacking play in the right-back position and Mattioni has joined in on loan until the end of the season, with Milan having first option on him should they wish to buy.

Should he perform well and earn a contract extension this will almost certainly mean that Massimo Oddo will not return to the team he so adored.

The two signings are no doubt a great catch by the San Siro outfit and hopefully their young blood will add extra pace and flare to an aging back line full of injury problems.

I am seriously hoping Milan are out of sorts on Saturday night. My Fiorentina boys' defence looked very leaky on Sunday and a man with the pace of Pato might kill us.

My only consolation is your defence is ancient...
