Vucinic and Pato take Beckham's spotlight

It was one of the most anticipated games to the start of the New Year and it didn't fail to impress, as braces by both Vucinic and Pato saw an end-to-end game unfold while BeckhamSerie A debut.

The Milan The build-up towards the game was focussed on two things, Beckham's debut and Ancelotti's unconditional love for his old side Roma. The Milan tactician stated once again that he would love to take over the reigns at Roma when Spaletti eventually leaves the capital outfit, however, he wants it sooner rather than later. If had to fail with Milan once again he would surely have to find some where else and there is no place like his old him in the Gladiator town of Rome.

Though, this was not the only thing that the paparazzi were focused on. All camera's were poised on David Beckham's arrival to Milanello and his Serie A debut.

Beckham stole the spot light in the build-up but it was Vucinic and Pato who got the crowd on their feet as both player's bagged a brace. Mirko Vucinic had claimed before the game that Milan are his lucky charm and he didn't prove them wrong when he opened the scoring in the first half.

Though Alexandre Pato wasn't having any of it as he was undoubtedly Milan's best player on the field. His equaliser in the early stages of the second half saw him spur the whole rossoneri team back into life as he added a second several minutes later.

Pato latched onto a through ball and ran past several defender's to chip it over Doni- almost Totti style-and into the net on near post. It was a world class goal and it no doubt proved that Pato has developed into a world-class player.

With just less than twenty minutes remaining Vucincic struck again as he headed in a low cross that bounced over Abbiati's line leaving the rossoneri stunned. The Montenegrin once again proving decisive for the giallorossi.

Despite the fact that the Englishmen put in a great effort on his debut, it was a fine display by both players as they left the crowd asking; 'Beckham who?'

Becks won me over a bit on Sunday night. If he keeps playing at the same level he might not be a bad buy after all...
