Prandelli Selects His Squad

Following Sunday's matches Cesare Prandelli has named his twenty-five man squad seeing Daniele De Rossi and Mario Balotelli excluded from the squad, whilst Marco Parolo is set to make his debut.

The Azzurri will be playing two matches through the course of the week which will see the 2006 World Cup winners taken on Slovenia and Ukraine. The match against Slovenia, which will be played on Friday 25 March, will be a qualifier for the Euro 2012 whilst the match against Ukraine will be a friendly.

The exclusion of De Rossi and Balotelli comes at no surprise as the two players have been sanctioned for poor discipline at club level or what has been described by Prandelli as the breaking of the 'code of ethics'.

Two big losses to the Azzurri also come in the shape of Andrea Pirlo and Marco Cassetti as both have been struggling to rid themselves of injury.

In turn this has allowed for a new face to be called up in the shape of Marco Parolo. The 26-year-old midfielder has impressed many this year at Cesena earning himself a deserved call-up.

Another player that has been selected is Juventus' 'Oriundio' Thiago Motta whilst Christian Ledesema has been dropped.

Buffon (Juventus), Sirigu (Palermo), Viviano (Bologna)
