Serie A says "addio" to Luca Toni

Fiorentina announced two days ago that Luca Toni won't be staying for another season with la viola. Toni had been rumoured to move away from the Tuscan club last season when they were brought into the calciopoli scandal, but he decided to stay, and help Fiorentina to qualify for the Uefa Cup this season.

Their were constant rumours that floated around Italy of his transfer throughout the whole season, with his name being linked to the likes of Juventus, Milan, Inter and Bayern Munich. But it was the Germans who won, they netted him for 7.8 million Euros, for a four year deal that would see him earn 14mil in the time he spends there.

Il Bomber chose the German club as he wanted to remain loyal to Fiorentina and not go to a club that would compete against them in the Serie A. This showing a real sign of affection for the club, and he is very appreciative to his fans too: “I spent two wonderful years in Florence and I am very grateful to the fans".

Toni put in fine displays and his best was last season when he netted 31 goals breaking a record that was held years back. He has scored 47 goals in 67 appearances for la Viola. A great record that will leave the Bavarians smiling in Germany as they netted one of the most powerful forwards in Italy.

As the Germans welcome Toni, Serie A will be saying goodbye to yet another World Cup winner. He will be missed by all and those famous goal celebrations, however corny, will definitely be missed too. Good luck to Toni and we can only hope he succeeds. An that he fairytale story of Toni only continues.
