Bring on Bremen!

As the hopes of a scudetto are nearly well and truly over, Milan will need to put all their attention on their last remaining hope of a trophy; the UEFA Cup, when the competition returns this evening.

It is the first knockout round of the New Year and Milan will be looking to take home to the San Siro a good result in hope of sealing the deal in front of their home fans. Though it will be no easy task for the rossoneri as they were hit hard on the weekend when they saw all title hopes diminish, the results have not been up to par at late with injuries and suspensions also a cause for concern.

Kaka is still unable to play as he is recovering from his ankle injury he suffered against Reggina, while fellow Brazilians Ronaldinho and Pato are in doubt. The former World Player of the Year might not feature due to a knock he picked up in the derby while Pato also sustained a form of injury.

That means that Inzaghi is the only remaining forward left, as Shevchenko is struggling with an inflamed quad, while, Borriello remains on the sidelines for a while still. All the pressure is left on Inzaghi to deliver the goods and that is the pressure Pippo thrives under.

Bonera will make his way back into the squad while Maldini has been left out as the 40-year-old is in need of a rest. Dibs are on Kaladze or Favalli to play alongside Bonera as the centre of defence is looking tired and old.

It is a must win game for the rossoneri as Weder are a tough, strong side in attack and they will undoubtedly put pressure on the aging defence. Though they will be without Frings they will no doubt apply as much as they can on Ancelotti's men.
