Seedorf breaks stern Cagliari

After suffering a disappointing defeat at the hands of Inter last weekend, Ancelotti and his men were looking to make amends as they took on Massimo Allegri's Cagliari side. The Isolani have managed to pull out great results lately seeing them win five games out of their previous six ties.

The Sardinia based side have proven themselves as one of the most difficult teams to beat in Serie A at late and they no doubt caused Milan some problems as the rossoneri struggled to convert their opportunities into goals.

With a host of players injured Ancelotti was forced to put in Inzaghi as a lone striker with Seedorf supporting him, as Beckham and Jankulovski went wide. The rossoblu had Robert Aquafresca leading the attack as Andrea Cossu remained in his usual 'trequartista' role with the young Federico Marchetti in goal.

The game started with a Pippo Inzaghi effort on goal, as the ex-Juventus player volleyed near post forcing Marchetti into a save. Aquafresca shocked the rossoneri defence as his shot found Abiatti's feet, the goalkeeper having put in a great performance throughout the game.

Super Pippo had a goal rightly ruled out for offside while Aquafresca's header was finger tipped over the bar. While Cossu's powerful shot hit the crossbar to some up Caglairi's afternoon.

Seedorf found the only goal of the game as Inzaghi distracted Marchetti and Diego Lopez to find the Dutchman who placed the ball in the back of the net, right under the Curva Sud.

The game ended in a scuffle between the players as Beckham was feeling the pressure and exchanged words with Michele Fini. Though after several minutes it died down and referee Saccani called the game to an end.

Cagliari no doubt put up a brave show this afternoon and it is no wonder as to why they are lying in seventh with performances like that. Massimo Allegri has transformed this Isolani side into a united side, that is well structured, and one that is full of faith.

A well played game by them, and an important win for Milan as they look forward to their home game against Weder Bremen on Thursday evening.

Cagliari are a strong side now and any win against them is to be cherished. I don't know how much Milan are bothered about the UEFA Cup but they should have too much for the Germans. I certainly hope so...
