European Super Cup preview.

Milan and Sevilla will take to the field later today in what is to be the European Super Cup final. The winners of the UEFA Cup (Sevilla) taking on the winners of the UEFA Champions League (Milan), a classic match it is meant to be, but the build up has been over shadowed but a tragic incident that saw Sevilla's Antonio Puerta collapse on the field due to a heart attack. He sadly passed away 3 days later.

It has been hard to focus on the match as both sets of players are shocked by what happened, and some feel the game shouldn't go on, tonight's captain Massimo Ambrosini spoke in the press conference held yesterday, "If it was up to me, I wouldn’t play this match. We don’t know yet what kind of attitude we will have on the pitch as this kind of tragedy puts everything into perspective".

It is said the whole feeling of the game has changed, and if Milan were to win it wouldn't feel like a victory to many after everything Sevilla had to endure in the last few days. But that game will go on and Sevilla will be more determined to play for Puerta and dedicate a victory to him in his tribute match. The players will also walk out onto the pitch wearing shirts with Puerta's name on it.

Milan come into the game after a weeks long rest where they opened their Serie A campaign against Genoa. The players spirits are confident after the 3-0 win, however, no one knows how they will approach tonight's game. But they have to try their best against, a no doubt, tough Sevilla side.

Worries over Dida's health have been boosted as he suffered an injury to his right shoulder, which saw him spend a few weeks out on the sidelines last season. But it is said that the Brazilian has a 99% chance of playing tonight.

Sevilla also come from a win, as they beat Getafe 4-1 on the weekend. Their match against AEK Athens was postponed due to the funeral of Antonio Puerta. They will be more determined than ever.
Let's hope the game will be a classic like it has promised to be.
