Milan win Super Cup, but Sevilla are far from loosers.

Milan went on to claim this seasons European Super Cup by beating Sevilla 3-1, to be named Champions for the 5th time.

The game started brightly and it was Sevilla that took the lead after Renato was able to slot the ball home due to poor keeping by Dida. The goal was a sloppy one, but the tribute was beautiful. As Renato ran to celebrate pointing his fingers towards the sky, all his teammates followed, them too, pointing their fingers towards the sky in dedication to Antonio Puerta. Not even the Milan fans could complain after such a beautiful moment full of meaning.

But the rossoneri never gave up and some slick passes saw shots and crosses flying in but the final touch was lacking. Pippo Inzaghi thought he had brought Milan equal after scoring just before half time only for it to be ruled offside.
The second half took a while to get going, but once it did it saw a great cross by Gennaro Gattuso which found Pippo Inzaghi who headed it home to bring the two teams level.

Both teams continued to push, and it went a bit far when Gattuso had to be taken off for a while to receive stitches to the head after Kieta had elbowed him. Nevertheless, with Gattuso still being treated on the sidelines, Pirlo made a magnificent cross to find Jankulovski who swung a low drive past the keeper Palop to put the European Champions in the lead. His first ever European goal.
Sevilla sprung to life and they narrowly missed the goal on a few occasions. But it was Europe's best player that sent Sevilla packing as Kaka broke free from the defense and ran into the area only to be brought down for a penalty. Kaka himself stood up to take it, but Palop saved it and it rebound straight into Kaka's path for him to header it into the back of the net.

Unfortunately for Sevilla they didn't get the win to dedicate to Puerta, but they got more. They won over many fans, and tributes were made all over for him. Kaka pointed to Puerta's name on his shirt when he scored, and as Seedorf got substituted off, he pulled off his shirt to show everyone Puerta's name. Puerta may be gone, but he is still present in the memories of all who watch football. A noble display by Sevilla, and they will certainly go onto do to great things this season.
