Juve, Milan and Fiorentina shine while Inter stumble

As the first day of the new Serie A campaign nears to a close, with just Roma to face Palermo later this evening, once again there have been some stunning results and some shocking ones too.

Juventus took on Livorno last night, which saw them hammer the Tuscans 5-1, with goals from newly signed Iaquinta (2) and a hatric from David Trezequet. The old lady certainly started to look young again, as they impressed throughout the game and now lead the table on goal difference.

Milan too impressed as they took on newly promoted Genoa. The rossoneri took the lead with a sublime header from captain Ambrosini. Oddo made an impressive run which saw some great movement between him and Seedorf to find Kaka who slotted it home. A few minutes later Gilardino was fouled in the area and Kaka stepped up again to make it 3-0 before half time. The second half the result stayed the same for Milan to head to the European Super Cup with high confidence.

The youngsters of Firenze showed their fellow Tuscans how it was done, when Pazzini opened the scoring after a goaless first half. Later it was Mutu with some sublime control slotted past the Empoli goalkeeper and a few minutes later Montolivo stole the show with a "cucchiaio"- type goal. Empoli later snatched a late goal but la viola still took home all 3 points.

Inter stumbled once again to Udinese like last year. Inter took the lead through Stankovic, and always looked like they were going to take home the three points, even with Udinese's continuous pushing forward. But it was wen Cesar got sent off, for touching the ball out side the box, that turned the game around. Udinese continued to push forward, and eventually scored through a Zapata header to cause some trouble to the defending Champions.

Fiorentina Empoli 3-1
Genoa Milan 0-3
