Antonio Puerta passes away

Antonio Puerta, 22, passed away yesterday. This comes after spending 3 days in the hospital where he was brought to after collapsing during Saturdays game against Getafe. It was said that he suffered a heart attack on the field but was able to walk off into the change room where he later collapsed again, where he was rushed to hospital.

He was put into intensive care where he had to receive oxygen from the respirator and his condition was described as "critical".

Puerta helped Sevilla win 2 Uefa Cups and was an ever growing football player. Following his death Sevilla sent a note to UEFA asking for their game against AEK Athens, which was meant to be played last night, to be postponed. The date of the game will be announced later. However, the game against Milan on Friday will still be played, and black arm bands shall be worn in memory of him

Our thoughts are with his family and wife, who is pregnant with his child, during this horrible time.
