Milan in Group D with Benfica, Celtic and Shaktar Donetsk

The UEFA Champions League draw has come to a conclusion and it sees many tough and exciting groups.

The Serie A teams have a tough task infront of them as Milan, will welcome the return of Rui Costa to the San Siro as Benfica were drawn in the same group. Celtic will once again play Milan along with the Ukrainians of Shaktar Donetsk.

Inter, will have a tough task with all thenpotential underdogs in their group in the shape of CSKA Moscow, PSV and Fenerbache. The latter two returning again to the San Siro were two years ago they faced Milan.

Roma, will be out to have revenge this time as they were drawn alongside Man Utd. This time Roma are bound to be no push overs, and are looking forward to this tie. Sporting Lisbon and Dinamo Kiev are also in the groups.

Lazio have an extremely tough group where they will meet Spanish Champions Real Madrid, and almost Geman champions Weder Bremen, while the Greeks of Olympiciacos will certainly be no easy task.

As the groups were announced, awards were given out to the the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, forward and the most prestigious of them all best European Player. Milan dominated the awards only coming short in the Goalkeeping category where Dida was beaten by Chelsea's Petr Cech.

5 times European winner, and Milan Captain Paolo Maldini grabbed the best defender award for the first time in his career. As he beat fellow teammate Alessandro Nesta and the likes of Jamie Caragher, John Terry etc. to the award.

Milan's midfield proved once again why they are the strongest in the world with Milan having 3 nominees as well was the likes of Paul Scholes, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard. There was the brave heart Gennaro Gattuso, the swift Andrea Pirlo and the priceless Clarence Seedorf, the latter taking home the award after his impressive displays in the knockout rounds of the Champions League.

There was hardly any competition when it came to the best forward, as there was only one man who could take home the crown and that was last seasons top goalscorer in the tournament...Ricardo Kaka. He certainly won the battle between him and Cristiano Ronaldo, as Kaka went on to win the European footballer of the year.

Congratulations to all the award winners, and lets hope for a even more exciting Champions League season.
