Azzurri go Greek

The Italian National team will take on Greece tonight in a friendly game which allows each coach to experiment some more with potential line-ups and combinations while allowing new players debuts.

It is an Azzurri side that has been hit with a few injuries, as Andrea Pirlo is still out following his right thigh injury several months back while Aquilani is only starting to make progress with his injury. Gianluca Zambrotta also had to miss the game due to a knock picked up in the warm up on the weekend. And to add to the injury list Buffon will be out until next year following his back problem.

The injuries however have allowed Lippi to make up a few surprise call-ups which could result in international debuts for the new comers. The tactician chose to opt for Udinese's Geatano D'Agostino due to injury to teammate Toto Di Natale.

In an ironic twist compared to the World Cup there will be several Italian Internationals that play abroad playing for the Azzurri tonight. De Scantis is expected to be handed his first start for the Azzurri while Grosso, Cannavaro, Dossena return in defence alongside Toni and Rossi in attack.

It is an injury stricken team that still boasts a lot of potential but playing in Greece is never an easy challenge and the 2002 Euro Winners will be looking to take control against the World Cup winners.
