Kaka crowned FIFA World Player of the Year!

Bollon d'Or winner, Ricky Kaka, has been crowned FIFA's World Player of the Year following his success with Milan this year. The Milan player-maker shrugged off competition from Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to the claim title for the first time in his career.

For the Brazilian it has been a year to remember by all means. He lead Milan to their 7th Champions League title, the European Super Cup title as well the Club World Cup in Japan where Milan became the first European team to win the tournament in it's new format.

The three finalists all had a fantastic season with their clubs, Ronaldo won the league with Manchester United while Messi shrugged off an injury to score vital goals for Barcelona's title race, where they lost out on the last day to Real Madrid.

But it was the rossonero that walked away with the most trophies as well as finishing top goalscorer in the Champions League, many couldn't argue that the boy from Brasilia didn't deserve this title.

Lionel Messi claimed second place while Ronaldo had to deal with third. The Portuguese didn't look to happy with the choice and accidentaly took Lionel Messi's trophy instead of his, after much confusion the two players eventually received their respective prizes .

The prize for the Women's World Player of the Year was also given out and it was another Brazilian that took home the award as Marta was awarded the prestigious prize for the first time in her career after beating her fellow teammate Cristiane and three time World Player of the Year Prinz.

This year has been one that both Brazilians will not forget and it will only get better.

It would have been a joke if they had given it to anyone else. As a European and now world champion he is the best in the business.

Do you reckon he can put one over on Inter on Sunday, however?

But Messi will be back next time around.

@ Ginkers. I sure hope he can do it against Inter. The team will be tried but surely motivated to beat Inter. Last season was embarassing having Inter doing the double on us, I don;t think they will let that go by easily.

@ John
