90 minutes gone, the Azzurri don't win again!

Italy continued their rout against France today after drawing 0-0. The Azzurri haven't been able to beat the French in 90mins since their win against them in the 1978 World Cup where they won 2-1.

The chances were few and far between for both teams as France looked for the draw while the Azzurri tried but couldn't find a break through as some players were not in full form yet. Great displays from Buffon and the full back line saw Italy grab the point on the occasions that the french broke through.

The Azzurri occasionally threatened but unfortunately the attackers were not firing on all cylinders. As one of the best chances fell to Fabio Cannavaro as he nearly placed an Andrea Pirlo corner into the back of the net.

The draw leaves Italy third in the group, one point behind Scotland and France, and a win against Ukraine is vital for qualification!

Luca Toni was heavily missed in attack due to injury, and he has left the Azzurri camp to be replaced by Iaquinta. Donadoni now has to go to the draw board and prepare the players well for a tough task in Kiev next week.
