Maldini slams faithful tifosi! Or are they really?

Yesterday Maldini sent shock waves around Italy as his quiet persona stepped out and blasted the Milan tifosi for not sticking behind their team during games. He spoke to la gazzetta dello sport saying: "It's not just the Curva that does not support us: even the fans of the other sectors are quiet."

These comments come after Milan's victory over Benfica in the opening day of the Champions League campaign on Tuesday evening, where the fans were unusually quiet about their beloved team.

Maldini also went on and named some of the games that saw the fans quite and he blamed them for Milan's poor performances: "This attitude started at last season’s derby and with some help from the curva we would have won that game."

"Like my teammates I’m angry because after all that we have given and all we have won we deserve to be treated better."

“It seems like we’re playing away all the time and we don’t want to put up with that any longer,” he concluded.

It has been a shock to see the fans react like this to their team after years of endless singing it has now come to this. Saturday evening Milan will play Parma at the San Siro and it will be seen whether or not the tifosi have reacted to their captain's rants.

Do you think Maldini was out of line or is he right to complain?
